London calls for The Traveller's Handbooks launch party

London calling! We’ve already taken Manhattan but this week The Luxury Traveller’s Handbook is all set for its London launch party – and you’re invited.

The Luxury Traveller’s Handbook is part of a new series of travel books, The Traveller’s Handbooks, focusing on travel styles – the various ways in which we all choose to experience the world.

The Traveller’s Handbooks is launching with five titles on luxury, food, solo, career break and volunteer travel.

The launch party will be held at the rightly luxurious Kensington Hotel on Thursday, November 1, from 6pm.

It will include a question and answer session with us, Sarah & Terry Lee – authors of The Luxury Traveller’s Handbook, and with Janice Waugh, author of The Solo Traveler’s Handbook and Jodi Ettenberg, author of The Food Traveler’s Handbook.

Unlike traditional travel guidebooks that focus on destinations and logistics, The Traveller’s Handbooks are for people wanting to see the world in a favoured style. They have practical tips and advice, and inspire through first-hand stories, acknowledging that today how and why you travel is as important as where you go.

We’re thrilled to be launching the book in London. The launch in New York was fantastic, with people attending from all over North America. But as we are UK-based, launching in London (for that matter, my home town) is really exciting.

Added to that alongside the US version of our book, The Luxury Traveler’s Handbook which is on sale now, we also have a UK edition which will be available very, very soon. Aside from changes to spellings (more Ls and Us and so on), we’ve included information on your consumer rights in the UK when booking your luxury travels, and lots of UK-focused resources.

The other two books in the series are The Career Break Traveler’s Handbook, by Jeff Jung and The Volunteer Traveler’s Handbook, by Shannon O’Donnell.

We hope to see you at the launch. It’s being held in in conjunction with London’s Travel Massive and Travelllll.com’s first birthday party – so it’s set to be a bit of a do! The Kensington Hotel is at 109-113 Queen’s Gate, SW7 5LP – here’s a map.

The Traveller’s Handbooks are available in paperback (£12.99) and eBook (£7.99), through Amazon, WHSmith, Barnes & Noble, Waterstones, and iTunes.

Spa treatments: the world’s most weird and wonderful

I love spa treatments - everything from a fairly ordinary facial to a multi-part full body scrub, wrap and massage. And I do like to try some unusual sounding spa treatments like an exotic waterfall massage, but there are some treatments which are frankly mystifying.
