South Africa is known for its striking landscapes and magnificent safaris but perhaps less so for its naturist resorts. But those that like life in its most natural form may well enjoy a stay at the Vasnat Naturist Spa Resort.
Holiday company Vigla Natura has opened the exclusive naturist resort in Somerset West in the famous winelands of the Western Cape.
Vigla Natura is run by British couple Mark and Samantha Taylor, who for five years have operated another naturist resort, the Vassaliki Naturist Club in Kefalonia, Greece. They now intend to take their successful formula to South Africa.
This is the first naturist resort of its kind to open in South Africa and is already proving popular with both local and international guests that like to let it all hang out and relax without reservation.
The naked truth about the naturist resort
The resort’s landscaped gardens are surrounded by healthy forests with stunning mountain views, while the naturist resort is set in 7,500m2 of flourishing flora.
With eight luxurious hotel suites, four self-catering suites/cottages and an indulgent penthouse suite, there is a room to suit all tastes at the naturist resort. And every room enjoys its own private sun patio overlooking the peaceful gardens.
Facilities include an outdoor swimming pool and extensive spa facilities, with steam room, sauna, hot tub, swim-jet pool and refreshing rain showers.
The Vasnat Naturist Spa Resort is 40 minutes from Cape Town, so well-positioned for visits to landmarks such as Table Mountain, Robben Island or the Cape of Good Hope National Park. There’s also nearby towns in the Cape’s winelands, such as Stellenbosch and Franshhoek, that will appeal to wine lovers.
