Unlike the lively resorts of the south, such as Los Cristianos and Playa De Las Americas, Club Casablanca in Puerto Del La Cruz, Tenerife is an oasis of calm set in a region of fascinating contrasts.
Club Casablanca is a quality timeshare resort which thoroughly deserves its RCI Gold Crown status. This is a hard-won award given only to those that receive high approval ratings from members and visitors, and Club Casablanca has held their Gold Crown award for ten years now.
Parking our hire car in Club Casablanca’s underground car park, we were immediately impressed by its very traditionally Canarian oak window frames and balcony railings which stood out against gleaming white walls. Once inside it got even better.
Our accommodation offered so much more than a hotel room could. We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment, with a fully fitted and well-equipped kitchen, breakfast bar, dining area, living room, balcony and flat screen TV with over 90 satellite channels to choose from. I was delighted to catch the opening game of England’s Premiership football season on Sky Sports as we settled in.
A very nice touch in our apartment was the welcome pack awaiting us which included first day essentials such as bread, tea, coffee, milk, sugar, orange juice as well as a less essential, but always welcome, bottle of wine.
Club Casablanca has 287 apartments of which 167 are timeshare they come with either one-, two- or three-bedrooms, while there are even four penthouse suites. The 120 non-timeshare apartments are available for travellers to book directly through the hotel or via travel agents such as Thomas Cook, TUI and Spanish operator Halcon Viajes.
However as the apartments were built with timeshare in mind, they are far superior to the average hotel room, with kitchens and dining areas allowing families to cook and eat in helping to keep costs down.
In fact we were very impressed at the great value for money on offer at Club Casablanca. Studio apartments, sleeping two, start at just €59 per night in low season (May-June), while the resort is also running some very attractive offers on timeshare ownership. Another indication of the value for money the timeshare resort offers was indicated in our cafe/bar bill – our meals and drinks were very reasonably priced – a pint of local beer costing €2.30 and meals/snacks ranging from €3-7 a dish.
Club Casablanca is clearly a well-maintained timeshare resort, which looks modern and bright despite it being close to 25-years-old. This length of tenure however makes it one of the most established and successful resorts in Puerto Del La Cruz, Tenerife.
A good sign of a well run and customer-focused resort is the nature of the staff and Club Casablanca’s are friendly and long serving, on average working at the resort for 17 years, many of them seem to have developed genuine friendships with owners and guests who holiday there regularly.
For those that like holidays packed with activities the timeshare resort offers archery, shooting, petanque and for the bowls enthusiast there’s an artificial green to play on, although it was due to be re-laid when we visited. Children are especially well catered for with a huge and very well-equipped games room.
I’m a big fan of the beach and Playa Martianez is just a 10 minute walk from the timeshare resort, while the popular garden beach of Playa Jardin, is about 20 minutes walk away, however Club Casablanca also has a swimming pool with a lifeguard service.
The resort rates highly with us as it provides free wifi to guests in the reception and lounge areas and we’re told the wifi service will be extended to reach every apartment later in 2011.
Club Casablanca is an ideal location to enjoy the north of the island. One advantage of Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, is that it offers visitors a traditional and more authentic Canary Island experience. It is Tenerife’s second city but is relatively quiet and sophisticated with Canarian architecture, good shopping, cultural and historical sites and a host of beaches.
