They say an Englishman’s home is his castle but Ban Tai beach in Thailand must be the setting for the most perfect dinner in the world.
While the crashing waves provide the soundtrack and the setting sun disappears to leave the deep blue of twilight in its wake, guests at a luxury resort can dine in their own private beach alcove.
The sand castle table is carved into an alcove at the luxury Orient-Express’ resort of Napasai, near Ban Tai beach, in Koh Samui. It seems an unusual, but rather perfect setting for dinner.

With the sand beneath their feet, diners can choose between a fresh seafood barbecue and the hotel’s fine dining menu, served by their very own private butler.
Taking four hours to create, the private sand nook is surrounded by candles and lanterns, offering an idyllic setting for a romantic evening. The ‘sand castle’ will be located in front of the hotel, which boasts the longest private sandy beach on the island.
The Napasai’s private beach was turned into a swimmer’s paradise in 2011 with the creation of a 28,000m² crystal clear lagoon and underwater nature reserve.
Prices start from approximately £115 per dinner.
