Every city has them – restaurants that get people talking and Toronto restaurants have been florishing for some years giving foodies plenty of options.

I wondered what he was thinking. Gliding through clear water a turtle led me on a merry dance captivating me with his every move. It turned out to be the highlight of my day on the water in Tobago Cays.

You know you’re off to a great start at a hotel when you’re greeted with cocktails. Stepping off the boat at Young Island Resort, Ivan, one of the hotel’s most popular members of staff (think I now know why) handed us each a rum punch.

When I was invited to go liming in St Vincent and the Grenadines I was at first confused. Why would I want to travel to the Caribbean to pick limes, I mused. But when I discovered that liming means “any activity dedicated to relaxation, provided that it has no explicit purpose beyond itself”, I told them to sign me up.

When I was asked if I’d like to try out a hostel I almost choked on my coffee. “But the Safestay hostel has been described as a ‘poshtel’ by a national newspaper,” smiled Colm, of Hostelworld. The nonsense of this new phrase wasn’t lost on either of us, but with the word poshtel ringing in my ears my interest was piqued.

British travellers are loyal customers with more than half of them returning to the same holiday resort three or more times.
