Love in a beautiful place – Sabah in Borneo on video

We recently shared a number of stories with you here from our fantastic trip to the Malaysian province of Sabah in Borneo. We went there to see for ourselves, what this up and coming wedding and honeymoon destination had to offer.

And we were not disappointed.

Here is a fabulous video that was shot during our visit, by the team from Story Travelers (don’t miss their other wonderful travel videos). I think from this you’ll be able to see why we are so keen to go back and see Sabah all over again, and why we think it’s a great place for couples.

There is simply so much to see and do in there. It is one of only two places on Earth where you can see orangutans in the wild. We were enthralled to see these gorgeous creatures living freely in their natural environment and yet to be able to get so close to them.

A romantic journey across Sabah, in BorneoAnd they weren’t the only wildlife to be seen. Sabah is also home to proboscis monkeys, macaques, crocodiles, silver leaf monkeys, an enormous variety of birdlife and even the pygmy elephant.

Another natural highlight is Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain on the island of Borneo, standing over 4,000m high, is located in the 754 square kilometres Kinabalu National Park.

It also has the world’s largest flower, the rafflesia, which we were fortunate enough to see, albeit after a walk across open countryside for about 15 minutes.

Sabah is known for having some of the world’s best sunsets, certainly the ones we witnesses were spectacular. On the shores of the South China sea just outside of Kota Kinabalu, we enjoyed sundowners while watching the rich vibrant colours, as the end of the day met the horizon.

As you can see from the video Sabah, has extensive landscapes, wonderful wildlife, sumptuous food and glorious beaches. It is varied, inviting and incredibly interesting.

We explored honeymoon spots on the island of Borneo as part of a project with iambassador, in partnership with Royal Brunei Airlines and Sabah Tourism. As always all opinions are our own.
